I was pushing dirt with my 755 when I heard a pop. It sounded like a transmission jumping out of gear. The only way it would move was with the differential lock. After getting it home and tearing it apart I found the left axle had twisted off, just outside of the outboard planetarys. I do have loaded bar treads on the tractor, but I am careful when using the loader not to "jam" it in the dirt or abuse it. I called my JD dealer he said he had never heard of it. Has anyone else? The tractor has been trouble free all 470 hours that I have owned it. A new axle is $350.00!!! Ouch. My question is even though the tractor is a 1993 can I expect any help from the dealer? I suspect defective heat treatment. Was there ever a recall? Anyone know where I can buy a used one? Thanks for everyones help in advance.Randy

Randy, I have never heard of axle problem on 755. The same axle is used on 855, so it should be plenty heavy. Was the axle bearing O.K.? Do you have a backhoe? There is a history of some axle bearing failures on some machines with backhoes. Have your dealer check for dtac solution # 14869 if you think the bearing failure was the cause of axle breakage. There is a heavy duty bearing and axle available for backhoe use.At 8 years old, I seriously doubt that deere will help you out on this. Kenny ....

Thanks for the info Kenny. I went and got the part this morning $400.00 + dollars. Everything in the differential is fine, bearings etc are all good. I spoke with JD they basically said tough luck. I just wonder if my other one is about to go.

Randy ....
